What Is Nightcore?
Nightcore is a remix style where a song is sped up by about 25%, which naturally raises the pitch — like playing a vinyl record faster. The style originated in Norway in 2001 with a DJ duo called Nightcore, and quickly became a YouTube phenomenon: anime visuals paired with high-energy, pitch-shifted music. Today, nightcore edits dominate TikTok trends, gaming montages, and AMV compilations.
Our tool lets you make nightcore versions of any song directly in your browser — no downloads, no accounts, no server uploads. Want to change speed without affecting pitch? Use our Audio Speed Changer.
How to Make Nightcore
- Upload your song — drop an MP3, WAV, OGG, FLAC, or M4A file (up to 50 MB).
- Pick a preset — choose Light (1.1×), Classic (1.25×), or Intense (1.5×). Fine-tune with the speed slider.
- Preview and export — listen to the nightcore version in real time, then export as a 320 kbps MP3.
Nightcore vs. Daycore
Nightcore speeds a song up and raises the pitch — creating an energetic, high-pitched sound. Daycore (also called anti-nightcore) does the opposite: it slows the song down to around 0.8× speed, which drops the pitch for a dreamy, deep vibe. Both effects work by simply changing the playback rate. Try our Daycore preset to hear the difference, or head to Slowed + Reverb for a lo-fi version with heavy reverb.
Best For
- Anime AMV edits

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the nightcore effect?
Nightcore speeds up a song by ~25%, which naturally raises the pitch — like playing a vinyl record faster. It creates an energetic, high-pitched sound popularized by anime fan communities and YouTube remix culture.
What speed is classic nightcore?
The standard nightcore speed is 1.25× (125%). This raises pitch by about 4 semitones. Some creators prefer 1.1× for a subtle touch or 1.5× for extreme, high-energy nightcore.
What is daycore / anti-nightcore?
Daycore (or anti-nightcore) is the opposite: slowing a song to ~0.8× speed, which drops the pitch. It creates a dreamy, deep sound — great for chill edits and lo-fi vibes. Try our Daycore preset above.
Why does nightcore sound high-pitched?
When you speed up audio, the sound waves compress — peaks hit your ear faster, so the pitch goes up. It's the same physics as a chipmunk voice effect, just less extreme. At 1.25× speed, pitch rises by about 4 semitones.
How is this different from the Speed Changer?
Our Audio Speed Changer uses a phase vocoder to change speed while preserving pitch. Nightcore intentionally lets pitch rise with speed — that's what gives it the characteristic high-pitched sound.
What audio formats are supported?
MP3, WAV, OGG, FLAC, M4A, AAC, and WebM. The output is always a 320 kbps MP3 file.
Is my audio uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens locally in your browser using the Web Audio API. Your files never leave your device.
How good is the audio processing quality?
We use the same techniques found in professional audio software: convolution reverb with real impulse responses, phase vocoder time-stretching, HRTF-based spatial audio, EBU R128 peak limiting, and LUFS loudness normalization. What you hear in the preview is exactly what you get in the export — we guarantee preview/export parity across every tool.
